Ah, the furniture of my youth. I completely understand now.

IKEA is great for some of that little stuff - glasses, lamps, pans, etc, but if your home is "decorated" at all it can be tricky to get their stuff to fit in.

I have a nice (and sturdy) shelf in my office from IKEA that I still like. Had a coffee table/end tables, but had to sell them a few years ago because we needed larger scale furniture. I would steer clear of the big "put-it-together" book shelves or any furniture like that because we had one that looked great, but you really can't ever move them or they fall apart.

Maybe they have different things now... I haven't been to IKEA in over 6 years since leaving CA.

Just dropped off a friend at the Dry Creek station, and there is very light traffic on Chester with no visible lines of waiting cars on the access road. The hired deputies who are in charge of traffic control are just standing around. I'm sure IKEA is doing a respectable amount of opening-day business, but it's not nearly as chaotic as expected.

If some of you stayed away today for fear of enormous crowds and still would like to go, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Everything appears to be running very smoothly.

People are at work now, who can go shopping at 11am?

Might be busy like Friday night or Saturday though

Geez! I just thought I'd give an update for those who are interested. Plenty of people could go shopping right now. Me, for instance.

It's an interesting store. Glad to see them here.

Their cafeteria always sells their great Swedish Meatballs, I'd go JUST for that, and will soon enough.

Living and working as close as we do to the store, I'll admit to being anxious about the traffic and confusion expected this morning, but everything seems to be well under control.

Mike,

Now you are talking my language. Feed me, and I will go anywhere. Last week I got the IKEA catalog. Now that is pretty funny, considering my neighborhood is many miles from the store and the people here would have no idea what an IKEA is, or care. They are of the Walmart crowd--well, so am I.

For other posters, you got to realize that many of us are retired and can go shopping whenever we choose. I rarely shop on the weekends or holidays. The middle of the week is my favorite time; no crowds; no stress. I get to see all those young mothers with their cute little babies. The little babies and I have much in common because all we do is:
EAT, SLEEP and POOP ...ahhhh, the simple life
