I am considering moving to the area (new job) and am trying to compare apples to apples on utility costs. I would be moving from Phoenix. I would appreciate it if other posters at there could share some information on what they have been paying monthly for electric, gas and water. I am currently in a 2000 sqft house with 2 people so would like something similar to compare to if possible but anything close will do.

Thanks in advance.

It really depends on exactly where you live and who are your service providers.

Although, not in HR, I can give you some comparisons to where I live in Elizabeth.

First my house: 6110 sq ft heated, electric appliances, 2 older Low efficiency Gas furnaces and 50 Gal Gas water heater. No A/C (Don't need it). Water is on domestic well so is included in Electricity cost. Winter temps in house set to 64 degrees main floor (Feels like 70), 60 degrees Bottom floor . Gas Fireplace runs most of the winter for decoration and a little heat. Insulated Fiberglass Stucco exterior, Tile roof, Triple paned insulated windows and doors. House has natural Gas, not running on Propane.

Power Company: IREA
Gas Company: Aquilla

July:
Gas: $21.00
Electric: $110

January:
Gas: $160.00
Electric: $ 180

Energy costs depend on how efficient the property is, your usage, and the daily temperatures.

I had a 2800 sq ft house the Xcel bill averaged $200/month for the previous owners a family of 3.
Our usage after a year brought the monthly expense to $130, for a family of 4.

I now have a/c but have yet to use it.
