Everyone is affected differently. The one thing I always tell relos is to hydrate.

You'll get a nice headache from being dehydrated.

Does your body ever fully get used to Denver altitude? so it functions as it was at a normal place or you always feel some difference?

Your body produces more red blood cells to compensate for the lack of oxygen. You cease to notice the altitude after a little bit.

What SkyDog said. It takes about 3 weeks to fully acclimate to Denver's altitude. I still get a little altitude effect at 10,000 feet and I've lived here 33 years.

It depends on the person, but for the most part, yes.

We are in town scouting the area for our move, and we went to Pikes Peak our second day here. Probably a mistake. This is our second time out to Denver, for a few days each time, and honestly the worst "symptoms" we had noticed were dry lips, dry nose, and a greater sensitivity to alcohol.

We ended up being fine after our trip to PP, but felt significant effects as soon as we stepped out of the car on the summit, not to mention during the course of the drive up. That's kind of duh I guess since we were at 14,000 ft, but we were unprepared for just how hard it would hit us. We all were incredibly woozy, dizzy, and my wife was a little nauseous, and was extremely tired for the remainder of the day. After getting to the top, frankly, we were anxious to get back down. Started to feel better immediately after getting back down to ~ 6,000 an hour later.

A huge difference between 6,000 and 14,000. The majority of the population will not experience noticeable problems at a mile high when coming from sea level. The majority of the population will experience issues coming from sea level to 10,000 feet.

When you fly on a commercial aircraft, they typically pressurize the cabin to about 7,000-8,000 feet. The new Dreamliner is closer to Denver's elevation.

Yeah, we knew as much, but didn't know just how affected we would be. Very interesting how we work.

It was in the teens with wind chill at the top, and I think mid 80s at the bottom. I'm guessing that's fairly normal, but again, for tourists like us doing that for the first time, the disparities were fascinating.
