What do you all think about the ticket GOD Ticketmaster? I wanna know, am I the only one that has a problem with them. here is my story I'll try to keep it short. Everytime I go to but tickets online or in person, here is what I get 3rd level. or no seats at all... but the show isn't sold out! well here lets us redirect you to our sister site Ticketsnow, they have tickets that have already been sold... and now they are being scalped. Were not in on the scalping part, but we do get to collect all of our service charges AGAIN. Oh check back on the Ticketmaster sites because sometimes tickets become available. ONLY after we have reamed you as much as possible. IS THIS ONE OF THE BIGGEST B/S SCAMS OUT THERE? When does it end?

I can't stand Ticketmaster. I've hated them and their "convenience fees" for years.
I wonder if the economy is catching up to them.

BWP is right. That organization is bad news, imho. Credit card fees, convenience fees. What the &*#* is a convenience fee? Oh, I know, says the ticket agent. I have to actually get on my feet and punch a few buttons so you can go to your concert.

A good friend of mine who owned Albuquerque's first used and new album and cd store had his Ticketmaster machine taken out of his store. He was told Ticketmaster doesn't want to work with small independent stores anymore per their new ticket policy. They only want to deal with corporate business. Talk about arrogant.

The problem isn't just with TicketMaster though. There's a terrible greed throughout the whole concert promotion industry. The artists want too much $$$, the halls charge too much, TM gets too much in fees. ClearChannel owns most of the halls now too so they get to charge whatever they want.

The concert experience is terrible too. You end up way way back from the stage (as you wrote), next to someone who is either screaming the whole time or high on something illegal. You can't hear the music because the venue is too big & echo-ey and there are too many people in it. Ugh.

The thing I never understand is why the fans are willing to pay so much for such a bad experience.

I've been to five big arena-type concerts and they all sucked. Now I stick to small clubs where the tickets are less than $20 each. I go to the venue before the show and buy the ticket right there at face value. The artists are better and I don't feel ripped off at the end of the night.

Sorry if I went a little off-topic. Thanks for letting me vent!

They are the dark lord of the sith evil. I stopped going to any ticket master venues a long time ago. They seem to think the demand for these things are inelastic, so no matter how much they increase the price people will still go. I hope they get reamed in the economic slow down when people scale back.

Except for Stevie Nicks, my wife drags me to those

On Friday I was going to order Eagles tickets from Ticketmaster when I found out the prices for them. The Eagles were here two year's ago and the same tickets I spent 65.00 a ticket for are now 165.00 a ticket. The cheapest tickets are going for 77.00 and that will get you a seat three rows from the top of the colisium. Needless to say I will not being going to this concert even though I want to go badly.

Let me say I am not blaming Ticketmaster for the price of the tickets I'm referring to the greed among the band themselves.

You have to wonder, how much money does a band like the Eagles really need?
I agree with what everyone else says too, about Clear Channel, Ticketmaster venues, etc. Going to small clubs and supporting local music is a good alternative.
Some bands such as Pearl Jam and String Cheese Incident have fought the good fight against Ticketmaster, but it always seems to have prevailed, but I think the day of reckoning is approaching.

Shiftless makes a valid point regarding the artists joining in on this greedfest, although there are a few who don't "hit the lottery" on this.

I'll admit to being biased on the Moody Blues a tad, am a HUGE fan. The "World Arena", located in Colorado Springs was, at the time, a new arena, and a good one (built in 1999). The local PBS station in Denver was having a fundraiser. I donated a hefty amount and in return got two 2 tickets to a Moodies concert. I could have just gone through Ticketmaster itself through one of the outlets (Foleys or Gart Brothers) but I enjoy what PBS brings and try to contribute when I can. I never attended there before, found it to be a real nice venue.
Which is more than I can say for the seats, which were thirty rows behind the stage. The tickets had a face value of $58.50 each on them, and an extra $15 for parking. This was almost 9 years ago.

The Moodies were playing Amarillo, Texas the next night. I hadn't bought a ticket because Ticketmaster did not have that available in their system. I had planned to visit an old construction buddy who lives in Tucumcari, N.M.,about 100 miles west of there, and the drive from the Springs to Amarillo was about 7 hours.

Got there around 3:30 their time, drove to the Amarillo Civic Center. Was able to latch on to a ticket for $22, 5th row right in front of Justin Hayward. Sometimes a person can get lucky when you are just wanting the one ticket. No ticketmaster fee, or any other fee. The civic center is an older facility, but certainly functional. The Moodies had played there before, several years back.

Greed can enter the minds of some artists but not all of them.

I haven't had many problems with them at, they have been nothing but undestanding and reasonable to me. I recently bought tickets to a show inadvertently for a night that my plane wasn't arriving on time. I called to see (beg?) if they could simply swtich my tickets to another night, well, I was on hold a while, but the gal came back on and said they will just refund my tickets!
I only wanted a switch, now I can rebuy tickets for another night.
Sometimes I mistakenly delete tickets from my email, they gladly resend them to me.
Guess I've been lucky with them.
