Sorry if a similar thread like this has already been started...I looked and couldn't find anything on this (strangely enough).

What is the "cool" neighborhood in Denver?

Here are some reference points:

-Artists live there
-Upwardly mobile folks live there
-Downtown/near Downtown
-Walkable (I'm guessing that most of Denver is like that)
-Modern achitecture
-Interesting cultural activities (parties/concerts/galleries/etc)

References to other cities:

-In Austin, it's called SoCo
-In San Antonio (where I live), it's called King William
-In San Francisco, it's called the mission district (at least a few years ago it was cool)
-In New York, it's called Williamsburg
-In DC, it's called Mount Pleasant or Georgetown

...you get the point, what's the name of the cool neighborhood in Denver? It's hard to search craigslist without it.

Capitol Hill, Uptown, Baker, Highlands, Washington Park, Platt Park. Each neighborhood has a different flavor. If you do a search of each neighborhood you will find tons of info. Check out the sticky of key threads at the top of the page and you'll find photo tours of some of these neighborhoods as well. I'm familiar with the King William neighborhood of San Antonio as I lived in SA prior to Denver. You will definitely find a lot more walkable and "cool" neighborhoods in Denver then in SA.

Oh, and just beware when searching that Highlands Ranch and Highlands are not the same thing.

Capitol Hill definitely reminds me of San Francisco as a whole. Being next to the Golden Triangle Museum district and close to downtown. Plenty of homeless weirdy's on Colfax. High density with many people walking/riding bikes through the neighborhood. Unique shops and restaurants and a diverse population.

Art students live on the Hill close to the Colorado Institute of Art, but the art shows and galleries are on Santa Fe Dr., Golden Triangle and a few on north Tennyson close to Berkeley Park/Lake.

The Art District on Santa Fe - Denver, Colorado

GTMD :: Golden Triangle Museum District :: Denver, Colorado

Tennyson Street Cultural District - Denver

www.WestWord.com has the current event listings and nightlife stuff.

Modern Architecture will be found close to the Denver Museum of Conteporary Art in the Lodo/Central Platt Valley area.

Hope this helps.

For modern architecture, you can't quite beat all the building going on in the Highlands and more particularly, lower Highlands
