I am so excited...my DH started his new job in mid-November, and the kids and I are finally going to be able to follow him there. We still haven't sold our home here, but we got the green light from our mortgage company this morning to purchase a house in the Denver area before we sell this one! After researching it for three months, we've decided on Highlands Ranch. We'll be living in an extended stay hotel for about a month to a month and a half, but we're arriving the week after next, getting the kids enrolled in Douglas County Schools, and our realtor is already at work to find us something in HR. Just had to share my excitement. I've been out there three times since October, and am just awestruck by the beauty of Colorado, and how friendly the people are.

Not sure about those links, but I'll say a loud WELCOME!!! We came to HR in July (temp housing until October - maybe the same place you'll be?). We love it here and are so happy with our decision.

Let me know if I can be of any help! One thing I've learned is there are so many transplants here, that people depend much more on friends than I'm used to in NJ (because family tends to be farther away.)

You'll love it!

Charles is a party-pooper extraordinaire. Most people ignore him. Highlands Ranch is a beautiful community and an all-around amazing place to raise a family. Welcome to Colorado!

Just ignore Charles. He moved here from CA, so who is he to talk? I moved with my husband and 2 kids to HR from Central CA about 18 months ago, and love it. Welcome.

Actually Charles is one of the most honest, informative, and (I might add) funny posters on this entire website. He was just pointing out the irony in Sheridan's post where she said she thought Coloradans were very friendly... when there have been dozens and dozens of threats spewing hatred towards outsiders moving in, and Highlands Ranch in particular is a target of disgust by many on this forum (not me, but a good chunk of the forum). I'm a little puzzled too... if I had never lived in Denver/Colorado and all I knew was based on what I read in this forum I would think these people were some of the meanest, unwelcoming of all 50 states. But in real life, I certainly wouldn't describe people in Denver/Colorado/Highlands Ranch as particularly "nice" or "friendly." Certainly not "mean" either... just neither, nothing too special. Different scenery, but same old people as anywhere else.

Hey Sheridan1962
Welcome to HR. I moved here in May 06 from CA and no one likes people from CA. So I heard when I left the area for the 1st time. Maybe we'll be neighbors.
