Folks I am looking to buy a bed/mattress and the whole set-up.

Any idea of places in and around Denver which sell beds which are not too bad and not too expensive?

Thanks!

Default Craigslist?

When I moved here, I received a free bed less than a year old from a wealthy individual that upgraded to a fancier bed. Sweet deal. Love craigslist.

Craigslist is an excellent resource, as poster above mentioned.
AFW is the cheaper end- I am not a big fan of this place, but they have great looking furniture and a very wide selection.
Scandinavian designs, Pier 1, CostPlus World market, etc are all good for the mid level price range if you like their particular styles. There is supposed to be an Ikea coming to the metro area some time this year (anyone have any updates on that?).

For Bedding, we've only bought from Denver Mattress(on 58th & Broadway, I think) and they have competitive pricing.

I second AFW - but i also sort of agree with what Kryptos said about it. AFW is great for some things and not so good for others... Like anyplace I guess. But, if you don't mind people's second-hand stuff, then CraigsList or even ebay can be a great resource.

One tip about ebay... You can use local preferences to find stuff within pickup range. OR, you could order willy nilly from anyplace in the country and then use a site like uShip - The Online Shipping Marketplace - Ship Freight, Furniture, Vehicles or Moves to ship it to yourself for cheap.

We bought most of our new furniture from Scandinavian Designs and are very happy with everything we got.

As far as I've heard it's going to be near Southlands or further and I thought I heard 2010 but I could be wrong. Can't wait for the ikea to move in, ikea is amazing. Furniture for the very budget conscious to pretty expensive.

To the OP, Furniture Row is a good option, however there aren't very many of them around. American Furniture Warehouse would possibly be a step down in quality.
