My husband and I are thinking of relocating with my job to Denver. We have a 6 year old son and want to move to a child friendly neighborhood. Rent 2-3 bedroom house, condo or apt. I also have 3 horses and it looks like Cherry Creek has a riding stables? Don't let the horses fool...we are looking to spend under $1200 a month if at all possible! Any heads up would be greatly appreciated.

Cherry Creek? Are you referring to the stables in Cherry Creek State Park?

There is a lot of horse boarding in Parker and Littleton. As to where you want to live, it probably depends the most on where your job is. Denver is quite sprawling and there are kid friendly neighborhoods all over.

Littleton is an actual town and it's located in western Arapahoe County. There is a large are to the west of Littleton that's unincorporated south Jefferson County, but has Littleton for it's mailing address. As you go through the suburbs on the west side of town, you'll find many stable tucked in neighborhoods. That starts in southern Jefferson County and continues on into the norther areas. You'll also find stables on the east side of town, with more as you go further east. Same for the south like Castle Rock and Parker.

Is your $1200 per month your budget for your rent or your stable fees?

$1200 is for our rent. i'm hoping to find a work for board deal for the horses. Two of them are seasoned lesson horses, the 3rd has a lot of potential. I actually have 7 horses I've been using in our program here, but thought it's be easier to sell them here than transport and try to sell there. I'd be woking for the city, but currently have no good idea of exact location.

And yes, I was looking at the state park area. Can anyone give me names of areas with lots to do for kids? Thanks!!!

There is also a lot of horse boarding in Boulder County. I think you are worrying too much about this "kid friendly" neighborhood stuff. Most of the metro area, as several of us have stated, is kid friendly.

No, I do not, but I know there are some places around, especially in northern Boulder County (Longmont, et al).
