I'm thinking about moving here soon and was curious about your story and how it led you to Denver/Colorado.

I have had family here all my life and always loved visiting. 13 years ago I was offered a job here and I never looked back. Best thing I have ever done. I moved from San Diego.

1980 - First wife offered great job and promotion to move from Marlboro, MA to Colorado Springs. I commuted 52 north every morning to work at Arapahoe Road and I-25.
1981 - Divorce. Moved to Denver.
1983 - bought first house in Denver with soon-to-be second wife (a 4th-generation Colorado native)

We wanted out of where we were and Denver just "fit". We wanted a place in the western states, near skiing, decent air quality, outdoorsy stuff to do. The PNW was too wet, the northern Rockies were too remote, the Desert SW was too hot, Utah was too conservative. Colorado just fit, and had a job opening for hubby.

I was 12 years old. My parents said we were moving to Denver (Dad was a native). I didn't have much choice.

I had been coming out here almost every year to ski anyway, so I kinda knew what to expect. Got tired of FL and just wanted a change. Started looking for a job and like 5 months later picked up and moved out of the swamp

My partner had a job offer in Denver. We both liked it, and realized we could sell our condo in Orange County, CA and buy a nice house for about the same price in Denver (this was 2005) so we moved to Denver.

My first post on here, post #1 in this thread, six years ago, tells the story, pre-housing bubble burst.

vacationed here since I was a small child. my parents were both public school teachers in michigan, we spent every summer (8weeks) camping in the rockies and the west. My brother came to CO with the air force.. stationed at the Academy for 25 years and my parents eventually retired to Buena Vista. We planned to retire here too, in about 15 more years, but then last year my employer acquired an agency in Fort Collins. I was all too happy to transfer and work my last 15 years on the front range near my family

Came to Boulder for grad school because I got a good scholarship and it was pretty ... grad school didn't help me land a job, my wife started at CSU, we moved to Ft Collins and then I got a job up there. Came to like the community. Then we moved to Denver for a new job - interviewed in Washington, Oregon and Denver - two offers, the Denver job was better, so we stayed here. Still want to relocate to the west coast. I don't ski, I miss the water and greenery ... we'll get out there soon! I'll probably miss the Colorado sunshine, no doubt.
