Hi,
My wife and I are moving to the Denver area in June, job transfer. We are very excited to move there but unsure of where to move to. We like an area that has a smalltown downtown. Somewhere that will have community events and good food downtown, nice safe area, and possibly new/newer construction condo's/townhomes. Any suggestions? Thanks!

We love Louisville. We are about 10 min from Boulder and 25 from Denver. There is a Main St with restaurants and some shops. There are fun community events especially in the summer. The area is very safe and recently was named one of the top places in the entire country to raise a family. There are some townhomes and condos being built just outside of town. Look into Louisville, I know you will love it.

There are a lot of areas that would qualify for what you are looking for.... certainly Louisville does. My other suggestions would be: Golden (historic downtown with some new construction, quite a few community activities throughout the year), Littleton (fairly similar to Golden in its attributes, but also with light rail running right through downtown), and Englewood (the City Center is all new construction, probably fewer community activities than Golden or Littleton and fewer restaurant choices overall, but also with light rail).

Arvada also has a cute little downtown. Most of these downtowns don't have much in the way to buy. Louisville's is mostly restaurants and coffee shops (same thing, really). It is a nice town though. Would agree that it's a great place to raise a family; we raised one there. I don't put much value on any of these "ratings" however.

I think the townhouse/condos Micktooth referred to are actually in Broomfield. They are not within walking distance of downtown Louisville.

Speaking of Broomfield, it doesn't really have a downtown per se, but if you can stretch your requirements a bit, you might like it as well. I am familiar with it, and there is a sense of community there, with community activities. Of course, where you live depends on where your job is located, too.

Parker has a Main Street and quaint downtown area, from what I've heard.

Thanks everyone for replying. We now have a list of places to start looking once we get there. We will be, of course, renting for 3-6 months until we find what we want. Again, thanks!
