Hello all, I'm currently a student in PA and Denver is one of the places I'm considering moving to after I complete school here. I have heard a lot about it, both good and bad, but I still want to learn more. Could you guys try to answer some of these questions for me?

What kinds of fun things are there to do on a regular basis in and around Denver besides skiing?

How is the weather in the winter? I have heard you can get some 60 degree days in winter, then the next day you can get a foot of snow. Does this happen often?

How expensive is it to rent in Denver generally, compared to other places? How is the housing market?

How is the current job market? Since I'm going to school for Information Technology, is there a lot of opportunity in that field in Denver and the surrounding area?

Is crime a problem there?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Feel free to add anything else to your response which you feel would be good for someone considering moving there to know. Thanks!

There's lots of outdoors stuff - hiking, biking, boating, lakes. There's the 16th street mall, museums, and the amusement park. There's also social and athletic clubs.

Not often. Snow happens infrequently.

I believe I read last year Denver is one of the least expensive "big cities" in the U.S.

There's a lot of IT in Denver ... but not currently.

Check craigslist. That's what I have been using to gauge where I'll be located and how much I can expect to pay for rent:

If you enjoy the outdoors, Denver is fantastic. Hiking, skiing, kayaking, mountain biking, and all that stuff close. World class scenery.

It's also a nice medium-sized civilized city, with art galleries and ballet and all that stuff. Superb live theater. I've lived here 25 years and I like it a lot.

Lots of IT here. More affordable than comparable places. Crime varies but in general I think it's better than back east.
