Hello, I was thinking of possibly coming down to Denver to catch a Broncos game and do some sight seeing. I will be driving in from Winnipeg with my girlfriend and was just wondering where would be a good place to stay and what are some good things to do? We were also thinking of going to Chicago, but we're not 100% sure what we want to do. Also, how is the drive? Would we be better off staying near Invesco Field or would it be better to stay near the outskirts of the city and take a taxi to the game? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Suggest get Bronco tix early, before committing to a trip.

Suggest you stay downtown, see the current discussion on that matter. From a downtown location, like the Oxford Hotel, you can walk to just about everything you'd like to do downtown. Then you can walk over to Union Station and take the Light Rail / RTD to Invesco, a short distance away. For ideas of other things to see/do in Denver, see this thread.

Are tickets hard to get? How would someone compare Chicago and Denver?

Yes, tickets are hard to get. Chicago's weather is more extreme and humid (both in the summer and in the winter)...Chicago is MUCH larger than Denver (there is good and bad that goes along with that); the cost of living in Chicago is higher and the traffic is worse BUT you also get more ethnic diversity, more choices in higher eduation, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Shedd Aquarium etc etc....Depends on what you're looking for.

I would plan on about 18 hour drive from Chicago to Denver

Bronco's website says single game tix go on sale 18 July.

They offer 2000 half-price tix (nosebleed seats) for each home game. These are not mailed to you, they are "will call window" only. As soon as they hand you the tix, you must go directly into the stadium as they don't want people scalping these tix.

Use priceline.com to book a hotel room at the Comfort Inn / Downtown Denver. It's an excellent hotel. Some of the reviewers say the "rooms are too small" but I don't find that at all. On the contrary, they're quite large for two people.

Staying downtown gives you easy access by taxi to the game and other things you want to do.

Don't miss the mountains. They're those big pointy things to the west.

Haha I'm sure I won't miss them. Any other options for hotels? Is it safe downtown? How much will parking cost? Thanks.
