Newbie in town question:
Got tickets for an upcoming Rockies game. Any tips or suggestions re parking, such as how early to get there, etc? Thanks.

I usually take light rail to Union Station and walk over. Parking tends to be cheaper north of 20th, with rates going higher as you get closer to the park. I used to park around 21st and Lawrence for pretty cheap rates. Some folks park over at the Pepsi Center and walk over too...Rock Bottom at 16th and Curtis has cheap parking for being on the 16th Street Mall, if you're a customer.

The entry gates have long lines around game start time, so I try to get there around 20 minutes before start time.

After 9/11, backpacks were not permitted because they were afraid of plastic explosives in the thick straps (that's what they told me, anyway). I'm not sure if that's still in effect, but I still bring stuff in grocery sacks.

You should probably read this over:

There is a lot just for Rockies parking - take the Park ave exit east off of I-25. Or pay to pay at nearby lots $10-20.

I will be there Friday - taking Light Rail to Union Station, dinner/drinks at Rodizio's

There are lots all around Coors Field. Personally, I don't like the lots on Park Ave. because of the traffic leaving after the game. Any of the nearby streets have lots and vary in pricing depending on distance. I like to park near 20th st, cause then I can get on the HOV lane to I25 by the stadium. Have a great time and GO ROCKIES!!!

No light rail nearby yet (Lakewood). Also, there will be 3 or 4 of us, so probably not cost effective to use RTD. Would you avoid the 2 parking lots at Coors Field itself due to crowds? Any other restaurant recommendations? We'll be going for a night game on a Wed., so probably early dinner, then the game.

For a Wed night game, I would guess there won't be a ton of traffic. But I generally don't like the lots at the field because the lots a few blocks out are cheaper and not as congested.

Lotta stuff around there...The Chophouse, Rodizio Grill, and The Keg are all nice chains, but pricey. There are bunch of regular bar & grills on Blake - The Celtic, Jackson's, Sports Column, LoDos...

Breckenridge Brewery and Wynkoop Brewing Co. are both local excellent brewpubs.

Do a search for "restaurants coors field" in Google, click on the 'Maps' tab/link at the top, and then zoom in.

Blake Street Tavern has a burger and a beer for $5 bucks or something before a game.....if you get there in time for dinner before, you can park right out in front for FREE, eat dinner, and then walk to the game. We do it all the time if we don't ride our bikes down.
