Any homeowners out there had your ducts cleaned? Can you recommend someone who does a good job at a reasonable price, So far 4 companies, anywhere from just over 200 to almost 600 for similar work??
Any help appreciated...

Nope... never have and never will.. EPA tests show this is more harmful then leaving the ducts alone and you risk the chance of the ducts becoming damaged.

but... I have severe allergies so I'm VERY leary and have done research on it.

I will have mine done next week. I called one that had a coupon in the "Money Mailers" that are delivered from time to time. That one is suppose to be $60. Will see how it ends up.

I have terrible luck whenever I call a home services company, based on one of those fliers. Much better to look for online reviews, I think. Let us know how it goes, I want to clean my ducts too, before closing up the house for winter.

Well, reprting back with a bad experience unfortunately. I called (from the $59.99 coupon in the fliers) American Airduct Cleaning. First, there are plenty of 'other charges' that are no covered by the coupon. So the $59.99 turns into $140.

I expected that there would be some brushes involved in this 'ceaning'. Nope. All they did is hookup a 'powerful' shop vac in the furnace main ducts and then push air into each one of the house vents. I do not think it does much

This was my first experience with such a 'service' but next time I would know to ask the details on exactly how do they 'clean' the ducts. If not brushes are involved, then move on as I feel the whole shop vac cleaning is a waste of time and money. I could have (and did) that on my own.
