I'm moving with two friends of mine to Colorado from Austin, Texas in December/January of next year. We're in the very preliminary stages of planning the move.

We're all planning on attending the local community college and transferring to a university when we achieve citizenship. So we're young start outs looking to experience different places. Would Boulder or Denver be a better place for us to live? Which has the best housing for the least rent. We plan on renting a house not an apartment and we're looking for $250-$500 per person. I for one, know I'll be supporting my end of the rent with a waitressing job, so which city has the best resturaunts? We want to be near the mountains and city life.

Any information would be very much appriciated!

Boulder is very pricey. IMO, students are LOUSY tippers. Academics probably not much better. Its well away from the city of Denver, you'd be fairly isolated there as compared to being in the major metro center.

I'd say go to Denver....so much more opportunity. Better tippers. Housing is diverse and affordable. Tons of things to see & do.

Agree with mike from back east... Boulder is a great town, but I think Denver is more able to meet your needs -- it's bigger, the cost of living is lower, and there's certainly many more restaurants (quantity) as well as some very good ones (quality).

I lived in Colorado Springs for a short while, but made frequent trips to Denver. Denver is larger and has many opportunities such as housing and jobs.

Without a doubt, go to Denver. I have many many friends that went to / or are in Boulder right now. They love it for the party scene, but if you are really serious about your life and actually want to learn something while you are in school besides how to drink like a fish and how to deal with a crazy hippies, Denver is your best bet. Also - if you drive a lot instead of walking, I would DEFINATELY suggest Denver where the pedestrians still understand the idea of looking both ways before you cross - in Boulder they must taint the water or something because EVERY time ( and no I am not exaggerating) I go up there, there is at least 2-3 kids that just run across busy roads because it's just the cool thing to do. You're best bet is definately Denver.
