I'm looking to move to Denver come summertime. Does anyone have any info on nice, affordable neighborhoods/suburbs that would be good for young couples? Thanks!

What's "affordable" (or "nice" for that matter... I like my neighborhood a lot, some people wouldn't be caught even driving through)... and get ready for a deluge of VERY standard answers (washington park, capitol hill, highlands ranch, northfield, blah, blah, blah...)

I'm looking for a neigborhood that is clean and well kept where I would feel safe walking the dog alone at night. In terms of affordable it would be nice to find an area where 2/3 bedroom houses are well kept and priced around $200,000.

Commerce City...it's grrrrrrrrrreeat!

Seriously, though. Where do you live now and do you like it? Do you prefer suburbia or being closer to the "action?" What kind of price range are you looking at? What are your interests? Home projects? Sports? Going out to eat a lot? Hiking, biking, walking, skiing? Concerts or plays? Or do you just prefer to come home, take a load off and pop in the netflix?

All important stuff to know. Otherwise, almost anyplace is Denver is pretty nice...but it really is a question of taste. I mean, do you mind living near train tracks? (Negative = noise, Positive = possibly public transit)

Edit: Of course by the time I'd typed this, you'd already responded...but I'll leave my post for future searchers ^_^

You could try searching the index, there is a lot of good information in it. You could search the forum using the relevant terms, e.g. $200,000 homes. I will say your price is a tad low for single family houses.

Depends on what someone is looking for, but there are lots and lots of home sales for under $200k going on.

Centennial/Littleton is nice (Dey Creek, Arapahoe Rd. etc.). Not too far from downtown if you want to go out but lots of restaurants and shopping close by.

I agree. If someone is looking for an area that ranges up to middle class, $200K will suffice.

But it likely won't be the "best" area.

Well, you probably don't need the best school districts if you are young couple without kids, so $200k you can probably find a decent 2/3 bedroom place that's not in a gang-infested area. You can also find an outdated smaller home in some of the older desired suburb neighborhoods and put some sweat equity into it. They are cheaper to buy but you'll get to enjoy updating it to your taste and nearby comps will pull the value of the house up quite nicely over time.

Westminster, Broomfield, Arvada, Thornton all have lots of homes under 200k.
