Hi everyone,

I'll be in the Denver area (Lakewood to be exact) this week on business and wondered if anyone can recommend some good places to eat. Specifically:

Authentic Chinese (not buffet stuff)
Vietnamese
Korean
Thai
Mexican

And also any good local hangouts for:

Fried Chicken
Burgers/Hot Dogs
Submarine sandwiches
Buffalo Wings

Thanks

For great, authentic Vietnamese, go to Federal Blvd in Denver (the area south of 6th Ave, centered around Alameda). It's chock full of hole in the wall places for Vietnamese food. Lots of pho offerings, some bahn mi specialists, and plenty of full menu restaurants (two that are reliably good are New Saigon and Dalat; both have questionable atmosphere and inconsistent service, but great food).

Also in that area are Super Star Asian and King's Land, arguably the best dim sum Denver has to offer.

For Korean, you need to trek to Aurora.

Mexican is all over; do a search here on the Denver forum for Mexican restaurants; you'll find several threads where we all argue about Colorado Mexican food.

Be aware that Colorado Mexican style is all about green chile; it's not tex-mex, it's not New Mexican-Mex, it's not California-Mex, it's not Mexican-Mex. Colorado also has its own style.

Now that's what I'm talkin about!

Look on south Federal street for Vietnamese and Korean restaurants. Plenty of those.
