And in addition to blocking it, access to the area surrounding DIA is a strong catalyst for growth in the area as well. The Arsenal also blocked access while it was open.

Default Work in Commerce City where should I live??

Considering a move for a job in Commerce City. Any recommendations for an outdoors person that will be renting, hopefully within 20-30 minute drive?
Thanks in advance.

Default Moving to Denver, working in Commerce City.

Im a recent graduate moving to Denver. Working in Commerce City but am young and want to live in a place that is active and will actually meet some single young people. I am not interested in the college drunk fest areas but more young professionals. I am an outdoor person that plays alot of golf and in winter loves to ski. What area would be good to live in? Is commuting to Commerce City that much of a problem from say City Park? I will only be in Denver for about a year so this is not a long term scenario but I want to experience Denver as much as possible.

City Park sounds like an option for a year.

I am looking for a community that is near alot of restaurants and activities but not right in the middle of a busy area. My price range is about 1100 maximum a month for a place. Not sure about going the loft or condo route or just an apartment. I dont want a 30 minute commute to work but then again I dont want to live far away from activities. I do not know a single person that live in Denver now so it is important to be in an area where I can go out and meet some people that are out of college.

Default Commerce City

Hello all--

I am relocating from upstate New York to Commerce City next month with my boyfriend. We've both visited Colorado numerous times, but naturally have some curiosities about what it's like to actually live there.

I've heard quite a few negative comments/opinions about Commerce City. A close friend of mine's family is from Commerce City, so I've hopped around there a bit in the past. Granted, it's not the most affluent town, but I didn't think it was that terrible. I've heard that it's a city with a high crime rate though - any input on that from those of you familiar with this area?

We're moving in with an acquaintance who owns a townhouse in one of those developments near the airport. Not our first choice of location, but we're taking what we can get until we can afford to move to someplace closer to Boulder or Golden. Any suggestions for good food shopping, biking/walking trails, etc.? Also, how far is the commute from CC to downtown Denver - what's the traffic like? I know I can ask the person we're moving in with, but I thought I'd throw out the questions to this crowd and see if anyone's kind enough to share their perspectives as well

Thanks for your time and your help! Any additional thoughts about the area would be greatly appreciated.

I recently did a photo tour of Commerce City including the new Reunion development-- if you're interested I can upload that online.

CC is pretty sucky compared to Boulder or Golden or Denver proper, if you're the kind of couple who enjoys "going out" more than staying at home, but hey, as you say, it's only temporary. Your closest major shopping/entertainment center would be the Stapleton Northfield development at I-270 & Quebec.

For trails, there's Barr Lake State Park nearby.
