Hello Everyone

I'm new here (to the forum and to Denver) and I desperately need to find a good dentist.

After a very bad experience when I was 13, I have not been to a dentist in nearly 30 years, and I have to go, my teeth are a mess.

I have numerous phobias about visiting one. I can't ask anyone I meet in person, because I am just too embarrassed to bring attention to my teeth (like people haven't already noticed)

If anyone could give me any pointers as to which dentists are good (or not) and tell me why you like them or don't like them?

I would basically travel anywhere in Colorado, if it means finding one I am happy with.

I would really appreciate any opinions.

I understand people may not want to post publicly about a bad dentist, if so could you please send me a direct message? (I know I may be asking a lot as I haven't contributed to the forum, but I didn't know it existed until now, and hope to be able to contribute in the future).

I think there are plenty of good dentists near where you are. If you create barriers to getting good service, it will be another excuse not to go.

Do you have dental insurance? Look for a relaxation therapy dentist. They are out there.

I fell off my bike on my 8th birthday and knocked out my two front teeth. I have seen my fair share of dentists in action.

For sure there are some good ones - I have been looking on review sites and there seem to be some pretty bad reviews on lots of them too!

I just wondered if there was another person who like me had a morbid fear and was able to relate a positive experience?

okay I had absolutely horrible experiences with dentists as a child and was totally afraid of dentists. finally found one in CA and when I moved south to Los angeles I still flew to N.CA to have my work done cuz I trusted him. when I moved out here I flew to see him til it became too difficult and I had to find one. I interviewed him first to make sure I'd be comfortable with him. I recommend Dr. Eric Rysner in Highlands Ranch. he's awesome.

Thank you, that's great! I just wanted a response of a real person - one gets a feeling some of the online reviews are fake, they either sound too good or too bad to be true!

I have found his contact info, and will give his office this afternoon, I actually feel sorry for the person who has to deal with my mouth.

Ouch! If you're looking at dental implants or possible gum disease, you need to go see Dr. Heller or Dr. Versman (Periodontal Associates) in Aurora. They are specialists and have been doing it for years. Get it done, you'll feel like a whole new person! lots of us have teeth that were/are a mess. amazing what our modern society can do to teeth. my damage was mostly caused by medications I take which just dry my mouth out and lead to major damage. That and grinding my teeth-yeah, what a mess.

no need to be embarrassed. dentists are just happy when folks finally go in to see them. they know there are a few bad dentists out there and they're horrified by the work and damage they do too. sadly, they've managed to terrify a number of us and keep us away.

I'm so nervous I needed nitrous for dental cleanings until last year-seriously. it was my own good and the dentists' sake, lol. now all they do is numb my gums now with topical-I've made progress . anyway, I sympathize. if I can do it, you can do it, white knuckles and all .
