You get what you give. If you are negative, you will get negativity in return. If you are happy and friendly, those are the people you will meet.

Thanks again everyone for your comments and auggestions!!

My husband and I were both born and raised I Cincinnati, Ohio... Very very conservative midwestern town. He has (and still does) work in insurance for nearly 30 years. Again, the six of us are optimistic about the move. We are genarally very positive, outgoing folks so we are excited about getting settled in the area.

Anywhoo, we are visiting the area this week (through 4/2). We are at Grinnell with our oldest daughter today and tourning the kids schools (WDCSD) later today and tomorrow. Anyone got a good suggestion for a hometown restaurant for breakfast tomorrow morning?

Thanks.

A lot of people like The Machine Shed. I've never been there for breakfast, but it looks really good!

Machine Shed is very good. Waveland Cafe is also well-known for one of the better breakfasts in DM.

Waveland Cafe and Drake Diner are the best.

I might have to go to Drake Diner again someday before I move. I went a couple of times about 10 years ago and wasn't impressed, other than liking that patio area they have. Am I missing something?

If anyone can find a more serious, uptight city than Des Moines, that is impressive.
