It's a good thread, and I didn't realize there was a station known as "The Bus."

I can hear that satire of "Another One Bites the Dust" . . . Another one rides the bus . . . and another gets on . . . LOL!

Thanks for the chuckle.

Yeah, it's kind of funny. They use that theme in everything, calling the listeners "bus riders" (Hey busriders! Guess what's coming up next?) and they have a big green bus that goes to remote events, etc.

In reference to "The Bus": In Columbus, there was Sunny 95, where it's always sunny and 95 . . . it was a compromise station for us at one point because they had "no repeat work days," which meant even though a lot of the songs sounded insipid to me, at least they only got played once.

I'm a public radio listener from back in college. I worked in reception and later as a production assistant. Popular music had just gotten out of the disco era and was entering new wave. Ick. I alternated between public radio and the classical station.

Last night I picked up a station with some very cool choir music. It was fading in and out, so it may have come from Ames.

As a child we listened incessantly to WHO am morning, noon & night..and in the car a lot. It had it's own local flavor with great locally-produced programming & talent versus the menu of nationally syndicated programming they air now in the evening when I can pick up their signal down here.
For my elder contemporaries, does anyone else recall The Betsy Baker Show in the WHO afternoon time frame or the morning dj Roy Fox who had theme music called "After the Fox"?
WHO am ain't what it used to be, sad to say.
As a teenager I mixed things up a bit more & included a lot of listening to KIOA am before learning to enjoy alt rock on KFMG FM.
I also had my dial at 640 on the am band quite often to catch WOI am.

OH! Is that what that station is? I will see if I can program my radio to avoid it. I heard the end of "Santa Baby" and then part of that terrible song about grandma getting run over by a reindeer. I was in heavy traffic and didn't want to mess with the radio at the time.

I soooo need to get my car CD player fixed.
