I will be moving to Johnston,IA shortly. I would like to get some details on the neighborhoods that are safe, close to shopping centers and those with very good school district and library system. Any recommendations on well maintained and nice town homes or apartment complexes in and around Johnston (for 2 adults and 2 kids)? My workplace is in Johnston, so around 10-15 minute commute time would be good.

Anywhere in West Des Moines, Waukee, Johnston - or the smaller-town feel of Grimes - any of those could suit you. There is plenty of new or recent construction, and the Jordan Creek Mall is the most recent shopping venue. Safe isn't an issue - everywhere nearby is safe.

My wife and I live in a townhouse in the Bridgewood area located just west of Jordan Creek Mall. My wife dives to Urbandale to work which takes her 15 minutes. We love the neighborhood and feel very safe. Beautiful area with easy access to groceries, shopping, interstate, etc. It would be worth looking into![mod snip]
