This piece aired on CBS last night: Entrepreneurs See Opportunity in Detroit - CBS News Video

It really just neatly sums up the local development that's going on.

Thats the type of news and vibes that creates a momentum of growth. In my opinion Detroit and Michigan is like an undervalued stock and the moment. Demand dropped so low that now is the best time to buy into the future.

Someone needs to tell them that there are, um, some holes in their "megalopolis". LOL, what a funny prediction.

Seems to me if population continues to increase, there HAS to be megalopolises, Maybe a century away. Population spreads outward from the cities. Detroit would be the center of what's now the "rust belt".
Or if freshwater supply becomes a problem, populations would crowd the Great Lakes source.

Massive rezoning? What has Bing said? If there's a game plan with a name I'd like to google it.

Not sure if there is a specific name for it, but Bing's plan is to consolidate the city into 7-9 specific neighborhoods to create efficiency and density. By neighborhoods, I'm assuming he means larger districts of the city, such as Morningside, Warrendale, or Midtown. He seemed to gain some vision from his trip to Turin, Italy, because when he got back, that's when some details began to emerge. I'm sure you can find a lot of discussion about it online. There was even a thread on here talking about it from a while back.

In any event, I was referring to the part about "Creative entrepreneurs taking advantage of cheap real estate and initiating grassroots efforts with a 'can't hurt to try' attitude." I just thought it was interesting that some national sources have taken notice.
