Who in the heck is going to invest in this project other than the government? Operating, employee covering costs, benefits for unionized bureaucrats? High speed railways are relatively new concepts being introduced in America and start up companies are very risky at this time. Just some thoughts..

If the government didn't subsidize commercial airlines, oil companies, and highway infrastructure, the private sector would already be operating high speed rail all over the United States. Instead, we now lead the world in the most cumbersome and least efficient forms of transportation. For the record, high speed rail is not some risky, novel technology. High speed trains have been moving millions of people in other countries for decades. It has already been proved out as more effective and efficient, yet we are like sloths in this country when it comes to getting things done or getting out of the way of private investors.
