It definitely isn´t a good neighborhood overall, but there are some safe and decent apartment complexes in the area, such as Lafayette Park, and a few rentals in the Midtown area.

Midtown/Wayne State area and downtown area is relatively safe. When you discuss the city of Detroit on this forum, you'll get a lot of terrible responses from the same people. Enjoy the shit fest bound to ensue.
