Dan Gilbert, other developers eye city-owned sites in Brush Park, Midtown, riverfront

Developers, including Dan Gilbert, have put proposals to the city for vacant parcels in Brush Park including 4 historical homes, the reuse of the Brewster Wheeler Rec center, the Herman Kiefer site, and the former Detroit Public Lighting building near City Airport. The city is in the process of reviewing the proposals and selecting the winning proposal.

Meanwhile, the city is still forming RFPs for the now vacant land of the Brewster Douglass site, and is currently accepting proposals for the reuse and development of an armory hall on Jefferson and the redevelopment of an industrial building near New Center where materials from demolished homes in Detroit can be reused or resold.

Because the city gets revenue while leasing the building.

Grand Rapids-based office tech company to open location in downtown Detroit | MLive.com

There's only going to be 24 employees but there's space for eventual company growth. Either way, more workers coming to Detroit.

I knew Usher was doing a concert but I didn't hear about the tour of Detroit Dan Gilbet gave the singer "Usher". Apparently he is interested in investing in the city.

I think the extent of Usher investing in Detroit is something like a large donation to a school or athletic club. Ya know, usually something philanthropic.
