How many of you remember this drink?
An egg cream that I grew up with - as I'm sure many of you "Michiganders" did too....

I found this on a recipe site
MixingBowl" the name of the thread is "Calling All Michiganders".
(link below). Some of you that like to cook might want to join this.

Servings: 1
prep time: 2 - 3 mins.
Cook time: n/a
Total time: 2 - 3 mins.

Ingredients:
1/4 cup chocolate syrup (Hershey's)
1/3 glass ice cold white milk
Vernors
1 big tall glass

Directions:
Pour in the chocolate syrup, then add the milk, stir up well.

Slowly add the Vernors.
It will start foaming, but that's half the fun. Let it calm down a little, and add more Vernors.

Mix slowly and drink.

After you have one your hooked. Its the best egg cream around. New York can have their Egg Creams with their seltzer water!
For in Detroit we make it with "Vernors".

My favorite is a lot of chocolate poured over a big glass of vanilla ice cream and then some root beer if there is any room left.

Yeah, the kids talk me into taking them up to Manistee every once in a while for a root beer float from A&W. Either that or a drive down to Montague for a bite to eat and a root beer from Dog-N-Suds drive-in.

I loved camping out at the back waters on the Manistee River.

Dad used to take us canoeing/camping on the Aus Sable river. Fun times.

He wouldn't take us on the Pine River, though, he said it was too difficult/dangerous for us kids.

Is the Detroit Egg Cream the same as a Boston Cooler?

Speaking of the Brooklyn Egg Cream, delicious when made well. Anyone know a good one in SE MI? They're a bit hard to find.
