Grosse Annex Detroit? Grosse-troit? (Ferndale, Grosse Pointe: house, buy, gated community)

Sorry I didnt post this sooner Retroit, I just remembered you asked about it.

I think it would take away land from people who actually pay Detroit taxes.

Thanks. It won't happen because:

1. Neither Grosse Pointe(s) nor any other suburbs want Detroit's problems.
2. This would never get Council approval.
3. These are relatively nice areas of the city -like you say: an area where most people are probably still paying taxes.
4. Detroiters, and especially black Detroiters would probably be outraged that "their" city is being taken over by white suburbanites.

Probably the only suburb that would benefit from annexing adjacent Detroit land would be Ferndale annexing Palmer Woods/Sherwood Forest/Green Acres. That would be across the county line, though. So probably a no-go.

The only area that Detroit would benefit from getting rid of to Grosse Pointe(s) would be the area by Mack and Alter that is widely abandoned. This area could be developed into an exclusive gated community and could siphon upper income blacks from Detroit and possibly younger whites.

thats one of the best areas if detroit in my opinion. jefferson chalmers, i love how the backyards have docking areas, its super cool! id live there if it wadnt so abandoned, even so i was tempted

One side of JC is actually mostly intact (across jefferson towards the water) and even has seen some revitalization. More in the furture according the site

Theres two places i love in JC, which are Keelson, which I heard has lots of history as a mansion, biker gangs and hippies.

And Habor Island, that one house has a huggeee boat.

I went to see a house on Riverside Blvd, going for 20K that was on the market for 5 days but they accepted an offer of 15K and I was telling him, ill give you 20k and he paused and went to check with his boss but I guess they were in escrow already and said, " We took that offer thinking no one would buy the home"

That's not a news article, it's a second hand blog hit job by an opponent of Bing.

She explains that economic revitalization is not Bing’s goal. He is an agent of big business and the suburbs. His only goal is achieving their plans.

When hasnt big business been the root of all evil? From paying immigrants less, to outsourcing to other countries, from China-Mart to Nike. I blame big business as the anti-christ

The only thing that blows this off for me is the plan to knock down morningside and east english village. I drove through both two weeks ago cause I got lost looking for a super market in Indian Village... Anyways, both places are well kept and the grass is cut, seems like a waste to knock down these two, might as well just annex them as is, they basically look like grosse pointe park anyways.
