Intersting, the one that I had heard as the true basis was Stagecoach stop No. VI. That makes good sense since it was stagecoach stop No. VI.

Another one with a funny source is Colon MI. According to their website it was selected by randomly opening a dictionary and stabbin a finger on a word. Supposedly, the founder said "It is fitting because the town kind of looks like a Colon (I hope that he meant the punctuation symbol and not the body part).

We have quite a few unusualy names for towns in Michigan. Hell, Paradise, Colon, Cheboygan ( odd enough that they made a game based on the name). Novi does not seem that unusual when thrown into the mix.
