Detroit: What most people would consider as evidence of Motor City's sad decline—empty lots, abandoned houses, and disused factories—others view as unparalleled opportunities for artists, designers, and other creative types. In fact, Patti Smith and David Byrne, two of music's eternal cool kids, recently exhorted budding artists to move to Detroit, and young people are heeding their advice, moving into neighborhoods like Midtown and Woodbridge.

The article speaks the truth! Whether you're an urban farmer raising salsify root on a downtown lot you bought for $100, someone looking to open an art studio or welding shop or just a future homeowner looking for a really affordable single-family fixer-upper, Detroit means, OPPORTUNITY, OPPORTUNITY, OPPORTUNITY.

Woodbride has so many things going for it, it attracts younger people because of the closeness to the school, the houses are grand but not as big as Palmer Woods so you can spend more money fixing the home rather than paying a huge water and heat bill. Also since it attracts the youngins they have the energy to fix their homes.

And so it was with Detroit—the city that lost its engine but never lost its drive. Mark MacInnes wrote this in his article,i respectfully disagree,Detroit still has an engine,it's just out of gas, but, when you put gas in that engine, and turn her over, she's gonna roar like the 302 boss under that mustangs hood, and heads will turn, jaws will drop, and well, might wanna put some wheelie-bars on the ass end over cause that fronts gonna jump...IMO..

Maybe that is the attitude that turns people off. ??? Instead of taking their concerns to heart, we tell them to eff off.
