Thank you for all of your replies, everyone!

I'm sure the neon sign was a prop and long gone because the name 8 Mile Mobile Court isn't the actual name of the trailer park . You can do a Google image search and find images of the neon sign . My wife uses 8 mile to get to and from work every day (for the last 12 years) and doesn't recall ever seeing the neon sign . Perhaps it was in the trailer park itself , or at another entrance (if there is one ) and if so it would probably be off of Dequindre Rd. She did see many lights (on the drive home from work) for 3 weeks or so . If you put the address (20785 Schultes, Warren) into Google maps , the street is off of 8 Mile and its a very short block . In the bus scene wher its travelling down 8 Mile there may be a couple of places left seen in the movie , I think there was a bar that may no longer there , maybe the small yellow iron fence may still be in the bars (now vacant ) lot . I went past there twice today and I'll be damned I forgot to look and see if the fence is still there . Maybe you can use the Google street view and check out the area . I'm not even sure if there is a street sign saying Eight Mile & Schultes , but that would be the main entrance to the trailer park . 8 Mile has a grass medium which would be a good spot to snap some photo's

Also, periodically along the median strip, there are signs sponsored by the Eight Mile Boulevard Association mentioning the names of both cities (Detroit/Warren, Detroit/Ferndale, et al).

Thank you for all of your help. As you mentioned, I think the closest "brush with fame" I'm going to have is to just go drive by the trailer park and maybe check out St. Anthony's Hall downtown, which is the building where "The Shelter" (where the battle raps take place in the movie) is.

If you're looking for some Eminem history, his old house in Sterling Heights is easy to find, on Hayes just south of Clinton River, 38125 or 38135 I think. It's directly across from a mobile home park, imagine that. I drove by there twice a day for years and never saw him but I did see others there.

The actual name of the trailer park is ACL Mobile Homes, I believe. I know it is on a street called Prescott and it's not a safe place. There has actually been two shootings in that specific trailer park in the past ten years.

South of Stephens, Dequindre has it's own 8 Mile effect. That trailer park is one of four in the "Fitzgerald" area, which is a very dangerous neighborhood.

Was a "real" sign in that it was not a CG image added to the movie.

The MHP did not have any such sign from the time the park opened to time the movie started filming. The sign was built and installed just for the filming, and removed promptly when filming was over.

Kind of like Rain Man, in which a motel sign was painted "Amarillo's Best", when, in fact, the motel was in an Oklahoma City suburb.

Because I wasn't paying attention to where we were going, I have no idea where exactly it was. Could someone help me with where exactly the "real" 8 Mile Mobile Court is?

Also, a few additional questions...

1. I read somewhere online that the 8 Mile neon sign as shown on the album cover for Eminem's 8 Mile soundtrack really does exist and that the sign is located on 8 Mile somewhere. Is this true?

2. If not (or even if it is) is there anything else photo-worthy on 8 Mile?

3. From what I remember, even at night, it seemed pretty safe and seemed like it was just another trailer park. Is that the case or is it actually not the safest place to travel around just for a sight-seeing tour?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
The trailer park is on the Warren side of 8 Mile in between Dequindre and Ryan, west of a Long John Silver and east of a Burger King. You'll miss it though if you're not paying attention, since it's off 8 Mile.

1. Yes, that is true.

2. It depends on what you mean by "photo-worthy." Tehre are plenty of landmarks along 8 Mile, especially the further west you head. For example there's a gigantic Penthouse magazine cover with a woman on it at a club called the Penthouse. Then there's plenty of ruins such as the old Federals Department Store building on 8 Mile and Dequindre (it has a huge blue sign on toop of a blue and white building) and the old Armory on 8 Mile just east of Ryan (it's a brown brick building on the Detroit side next to a huge park). Then of course tehre are several places that have a nostalgic feel to it. For example there's the Bali Motel (8 Mile and Dequindre, Detroit side), Suez Motel (also 8 Mile and Dequindre, Warren side), Belmont (8 Mile and Dequindre0, Bel-Air (8 Mile and Van Dyke), 8-Wood Motel (8 Mile and Woodward). Then of course there's Northland (8 Mile & Greenfield), Northland Skating Rink (8 Mile and Evergreen), Hot Wheel City (two locations, 8 Mile and Schoenherr then 8 Mile and Meyers), Eastland (8 Mile and Kelly), 3M factory on 8 Mile and Groesbeck, WWJ's studio and transmitter on 8 Mile and Meyers (Oak Park side), Guardian Alarm (8 Mile and Southfield), and then the old State Fair Grounds (8 Mile & Woodward). Finally MDOT recently re-did the Woodward bridge over 8 Mile and it now features pictures from Detroit's past, you can see them as travel down 8 Mile in either direction.

3. Yes, it's pretty much like your typical trailer park.

EDIT: Until last year there was a Arby's on 8 Mile & Dequindre (Detroit side) and it was one of the few locations that still had the huge ten gallon hat sign.

It is?

I drove by there yesterday and it was still open.

In fact, I saw a commercial today and they still listed the Bel-Air location.
