A few months I had a knock on my door.I opened up to find a woman in tan slacks wearing a 'utiliity' vest. She told me she was in the area checking energy consumption&needed to see my most recent energy bill.At first I assumed she was with Consumer's Energy&went to get my bill. Then I turned and asked her who she was with? She said 'Just Energy'.I asked if that was an affiliate of Consumer's.When she said no I told her she wasn't seeing my bill or anything else&she had to leave. She went into a sales pitch about how her company could save me tons of money if she could just see my bill. I told her I wasn't interested at the time but if she'd like to leave some info I'd look it over. She had nothing to leave she said&went on to knock on another door in the condo bldg I live in. I told her, loudly, that she had to get out immediately!I also told her not to come back with this solicitation/scam(?).She made a couple of snide comments but left.I asked a few neighbors who let the woman in.Of course no one knew how she gained entrance.Fast forward to last Thurs evening(7/21).I hear a faint knock on my door.By the time I opened it no one was there. Then I look at my neighbor's door and see the same woman I'd thrown out back in late winter. She starts to break into the same sound&dance she'd given me before.I loudly told her to get out, that she wasn't supposed to be here&reminded her that I'd thrown her out before. As she was hitting the stairs she got a burst of courage&asked who I was/if I were the property manager.By this time I'm pretty steamed as I tell her it doesn't matter to her who I am.The only thing she needed to know was I lived there&she didn't!She was trespassing&I wasn't.When I threatened to phone for the police she said smugly"You can.I'm not doing anything wrong".
To make this long story shorter,I yelled at her that I was going to open the front door for her&expected her to get the hell out and not return! The idiot kept repeating "Have a nice night.Have a nice night"as she took each step extra slowly.I finally told her that she'd said that enough&it was past her time to be outside.
Anyone else have anyone from this company come to their door with this?I called the 'office' number she'd left for me the first time I threw her out but found out it was a cell phone number of someone who didn't sound very professional let alone a supervisor of hers. I've looked online but can't find an address or contact phone number to call& complain. I did call the local police station&the officer said if they should come back I should call and the law would come out and escort them off the premises.
Is this a scam 'Just Energy' is trying to pull?

Probably.

There are alternative energy providers. They do actually sell you energy, but in our experience they are all scams. They tell you your energy will be cheaper (the charge for Kilowatt is less, but the total is more). They tell you it will be all green energy or renewable energy, then they announce that there is not enough green energy available so you will get regular energy from the regular power company just billed through them (at an increased price). Much as I hate the Edison monopoly, they are the only legitimate game in town as far as I know.

I'd be more concerned that your neighbors are letting strangers in the building. Next time just say "No thank you" (preferably without opening the door) and call your association manager.

I hear you&I am. Thing is though the neighbors I ask never know how the woman's getting in.
I spoke with a board member who lives in the bldg about it.She was gone both times the woman came.Had she been here I'm certain the pushy JE woman wouldn't have gotten in.I think I'll ask the board to post something in the hall reminding my neighbors about the dangers(and annoyances)of letting unknowns in. A "No Soliciting"sign outside wouldn't hurt either.Think I'll pick one up at the hardware store on my next visit there.
Thanks

I just had the same thing happen. not only did this "sales person" get in my face, she also swore at me as she left saying "f**k you dumba**". I called Consumers to see what the deal was, they gave me the number for Just Energy where I left a complaint, and also at Michigan Public Service, I left a report. this is not ok. no one should be treated like that, especially by some solicitor who is trespassing in another's home.
I will be keeping doors locked and if this girl comes back I'm just gonna call the police, no questions.

I assume your condo has rules against such solicitation, so I would certainly turn anyone away out of hand and notify management or the association with warnings about giving access to strangers. Problem is , who gives them access?
Seems like they are a "legitimate" company but possibly very shady.

i just had someone from Just Energy knock at my door, she did a quick show of her name badge, and announced, "we are your energy provider" and then asked me "are you receiving our energy insurance ?" i replied no, she looked surprised and started writing something down, at which point i informed her that the owner of the home isn't home, she wanted to know when they would be home and i told her i don't know. She said okay and left. I know DTE is my energy provider not JE. and immediately looked them up online. thank you Coldjensens for your extra info

Sounds like a scam to me, I didn't even have to look them up to come to that conclusion. But I did Google them, apparently they're some company out of Mississippi but they have an office here on Telegraph south of 13 mile.

Oh and take a look at the reviews: https://plus.google.com/106661667305...ut?hl=en&gl=us

Hi! I'm here to help you!

That's, unfortunately, all I usually need to hear before I tell someone to "hit the bricks". . .
