They lost me when Alaska came before Tallahassee, Vegas, and Stockton, CA. And when they're highly under counting the metro population.

Most of the towns are mid-size cities. I've never thought of Anchorage or Las Vegas as dangerous. I would have thought Oakland, California might had made the list. I'm somewhat confused as what the intent of the list actually is. Is it attempting to discourage people from visiting these towns or just point out that no one sucks as bad as Detroit?

I would have at least understood the list better if they had pictures of actual areas where crime is high rather than just the skylines of the cities.

Possibly the most dangerous city based on which ever one of these often skewed surveys that keep showing up all over the internet you want to believe (some of the more recent ones list St. Louis or Memphis as #1--who really knows?), with some of the safest, most beautiful and upscale suburbs in the country. Ironic but true.

I've been to Anchorage, it's a pretty clean city. Some of the neighborhoods are low-brow but Ive never felt threatened there. Last time I went was 2001 and Im not sure how much changed but it doesnt rank near Detroit or Memphis, neither does Springfield.

In Anchorage you probably have a lot of people who moved up there with big dreams that went bust. They also have a cost of living as high as the North Star, only 3 hours of night some times of year, and only 3 hours of day others.

A huge mismatch in male vs. female population is a recipe for all kinds of crime and behavioral problems.

Did anyone else notice Detroit was the only city they didn't measure by the actual MSA?

If that isn't obvious media bias/skewing the statistics (or people are really that clueless about Detroit) then I don't know what is.

I wonder who comes up with these statistics?? I just moved from atlanta and based on my experience living there, I would say it is the most dangerous city. Everyday someone is getting murdered, raped, burgalarized, molested, kidnapped, mur der-suicide.The police is constantly killing someone..i could go on and on. Even though I live in a so call safe neighborhood I still refuse to let my son ride his bike outside. I actually feel safer in flint. Maybe its just me I dont know.

Hello,

I am in ATL and probably moving to Detroit. Were you referring to Atlanta as the most dangerous city or Detroit?

Regards
