I am relocating to Farmington Hills for a job. I am not familar with the area. My employer is located on Orchard Lake Road by 13 mile. I do not want to live more than 15 min away. I am a single male in my mmid 20s. What apartments would you suggest? What is there to do as far as nighlife, resturants, malls, bars/clubs etc? I have looked up a few listings for apartments can anyone tell me about Kensington Manor, Independence Garden Apartments or Citation Club? I am looking for a 1 to 2 bedroom also I would perfer wash/dryer in the unit. What should I expect to pay per month? Thanks

Orchard Lake road has a lot of strip mall style chain restaurants. Actually, you could pretty much drive all over the place and find strip malls. The closest full size mall would be Twelve Oaks Mall between 12 Mile and I-96. Down on the Lodge near 8 Mile, there's Northland Mall. It's probably a more "ghetto" mall, but I haven't been there lately to know if it's any different than when I used to go.

Most of your bars and nightlife will be along Woodward and in Downtown Royal Oak. It's about a 20-30 minute drive depending on traffic. You'll also probably find more unique off-chain stores in that area as well.

I have heard bad things about Indepence Green. Citation Club I am not sure of but there are 2 others complexes next to it one is Hillcrest Forest which are pretty nice and the other is Village Green which I heard mixed.
What is your price range? Rent will range depending on a variety of factors. Such as a seperate entrance,washer/dryer,ammentities,car port/garage. You could also look to live in Novi/Northville or West Bloomfield. The closest malls and I would not suggest Northland as it is not safe area. I would say Twelve Oaks or Somerset is a larger mall that is really nice. Like the other response said there are a lot of plaza malls some inside and some out. They have individually own shops and restaurants. Then scattered you have Target, Walmart, discount shops TJ Maxx etc. As of night clubs Royal Oak, Ferndale, you may also like Ann Arbor. There are some sports type bars in Commerce or Novi and I would think scattered around

I have checked out Foxpointe Townhouses. They are the biggest space in the area. It seems to be a nice community. There is also great reviews online. Also check out Spring Valley apartments. They are nice as well. Both are in FH.

West? 8 Mile travels east - west. Do you mean south? Either way that area is generally pretty safe.
