Here is a link to a site that places that video in the broader context of what was taking place in America at that time. The establishment realizes that it is not what you know, but what you can prove. Detroit was an incubator of orginzations and leadership that was seen as threatening to the establishment......and that is when the drugs moved in.

I think a strong case can be made that drugs were used as a means to an end to destroy a movement that the FBI determined was the number one threat to the interanl security of America in the 60's. The effort was not unlike the effort against "terrorism" today.

It was an experiment to see what the effects LSD would have on a person who just experienced some type of trauma (whether the trauma was child abuse, rape or electroshock). They would then force the person to watch a Disney movie or the Wizard of Oz, because the felt like they were floating away to a happy place in thir LSD trip after experiencing the trauma. It would cause them to develop multiple personalities to escape whatever trauma they experienced, and the individual would be loaded wit hall sorts of symbols and trigger words that a handler could use to bring forth whichever one of their personalities as necessary. BAsically, it was a mind control technique. Psychologists from Nazi Germany were heavily involved in these experiments. Some say most of our idols in Hollywood (TV, Movies, Music) are MKUltra victims (research Michael Jackson, Brittany Spears, Corey Haim and Corey Feldman), and once their programming starts to break down and they try to reveal what's happening to them to the public, if they can't update their programming (taking them to a MKUltra programming center, Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles is a well-known one) their self destruct programming kicks in (there are several stages of programming) and their commit suicide, usually drug-induced (see again Corey Haim and Whitney Houston). Some say the reason they put these celebrities through that type of suffering is so the TPTB (the elite) can dumb us down and condition us for the NWO (entirely different topic for a different day), and they use then as puppets to feed us all sorts of symbolism and to pre-occupy our minds with useless bullcrap.

But I'm getting off topic, some say Project MKUltra is what helped to trigger the Hippe Movement (Psychedelic Era, everyone was zonked out to even think critically or function properly). See Ken Kesey.

As Detroit goes, so does the entire nation.

Detroit was the capital of the manufacturing industry, particularly the automobile. Vast American wealth was created - and much of the wealth and jobs tricked down -- or more like poured down. Factories in Detroit were pumping out cars and tool and die shops and other support businesses flourished in Grand Rapids, and farther away.

It was the manufacturing industry especially the automobile sector that made the USA very wealthy and middle class and comfortable. Giving all that away was absolutely the most foolish thing that was allowed to happen to our nation.

Nothing can replace it. Look at the short last Technology Industry -- it too can be done much more cheaply in China and other very low wage nations. And the Housing Bubble proved what a joke it was to think a big Housing Industry could replace Manufacturing.
