OK, that's not the whole story. How about the economy - no impact? Granholm is responsible for the recession with nationwide outsourcing of manufacturing jobs, including Detroit's, in high gear over that time? I don't believe even Fox News has explained this.

What did Granhole do when Pfizer announced the company was pulling out of Michigan? Call a news conference - whoop de doo !!!

For a union state, Michigan's max unemployment compensation of only $387 per week was poor compared to other union states.

So the Governor sets unemployment rates?

Whatever the truth is about what you're saying, you realize "them's fighting words", right?

How would you like me to jab my finger in your face and tell you how badly your town sucks, when I don't even live there?

That's what I am getting from this.

Any solutions, or do you figure you're still in the phase where you need to enlighten the residents of Detroit about their desperate straits?

Hahahahahaha! How's that "Hope" and "Change" working out for you? The government is not the solution to Detroit's problems, it is the cause of them.

And poor people aren't selfish and disgraceful? Since when is making money selfish and disgraceful?

Denmark and the Netherlands don't have a large minority population that believes they are entitled to be provided for, do they?
Actually, they do; immigrants from North Africa and Turkey (mostly Muslim) that are starting to take over the cities in these (and many other) European countries, at least in the youth population. Not sure of the stats on the welfare but apparently European society in general is more accepting of being on social welfare.

But hopefully not too off topic; back to Detroit we go.

There are thousands of towns and cities less popular than Detroit. Like, towns and cities that people don't even realize they don't like because they've never heard of them and never will. Sure, lots of people don't like Detroit, but there's also a lot of people nationally that do like it, which is more than you can say for a lot of places.

I've been to cities in the US far less interesting and enjoyable than Detroit. With the exception of one Detroit cop, everyone I spoke to in the city was great. I'm looking forward to coming back sometime.

Does that disturb the reality that it is a decaying, violent, crime-ridden $hithole?
