My Sons crew team out rowing in the Trenton Channel, found a body floating in the river!

Not fun for kids.

I wonder if it is the missing painter.

Im not sure where the trenton channel is but your right, a body in the water is very disturbing. If someone was missing in that area it seems reasonable that the victim may be that person. What a shame.

Could be from anywhere upstream.

Yea as stated, they already found the painter.

Family: Body of Ambassador Bridge Painter Recovered from Detroit River (http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/dpp/news/local/coast-guard-recovers-body-from-detroit-river-20120323-ms - broken link)

There could probably be a million speculations on what happened with the body your son's crew team found until there is an autopsy.

I am not sure if the painter would still be floating. What is it with the Detroit River and dead bodies recently? Did I read one was found near Grosse Pointe Park, too?

You know what's worse than finding a body floating in a river?

Finding half a body floating in the river...

There was a female professor from Wayne State that went missing about a year ago. They found her car with the keys and her purse in it on the Belle Isle Bridge but they never found her. I'm not sure how long a body remains recognizable as a body in a river, but the Detroit River is generally pretty cold, so who knows?

Is this going to be on the local news? That's kind of a big deal, a crew team coming across a body in the river. I bet that was traumatic for your son and his friends.

My son was not in the boat that encountered the body. There are a bunch of different stories from the hit it with a paddle to they just went by some fishing boats that found it. I have not seen anything about it in the news.

I think this is the fifth one this year.

It happens from time to time, people jump off the Bell Isle bridge or the ambassador bridge and they wash up in the spring. They almost always turn out to be suicides (the painter, one swimmer and one criminal trying to escape arrest are the only exceptions I know of). It is always sad.
