While 10 years ago I would have said Troy hands down, but no so much today. The city is looking old, the schools are slipping fast when compared to the other areas noted and overall the city is on a downward spiral. Depending on the income level of your new job, I would look as follows: middle income to upper middle - Rochester Hills, upper middle to upper would be Birmingham, downtown Rochester or Bloomfield. Rochester and Rochester Hills have a nice balance and complement each other nicely. They have a downtown and awesome ammenities. Birmingham does as well but is more pricey. If it were me today, Rochester or Rochester Hills for the money and overall value......
