With the two neighborhoods facing extinction soon, I was wondering if fellow c-d posters would be kind enough to post pics of all that was of the neighborhoods. Seen an d pic of a electric trolley crossing the drawbridge where Oakwood ends at Fort St; all I can say that I was shocked..

Any pics will be appreciated ----- thanks----BGF

Don't have any pictures but that name sure stirs up memories. A little history - I was born in Flat Rock (in a house on the end of a dead end street), moved to Romulus when I was two.
Del Ray was a Hungarian town in the fifties & sixties. We would drive there on Sundays and buy Hungarian bread, rolls, pastrys, etc. A great memory of a great, forgotten town.

Ya, the forward march of industry, in the name of progress, has all but wiped out two very ornate neighborhoods, along with I-75. Grew up in the Oakwood Heights area and spent a lot of time in Delray, as it was right across the Rouge River. I've always imagined what it was like in its' heyday.

Oakwood Heights reminds me of the North End in Boston.
