DETROIT, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Forbes magazine says Detroit tops its list of "America's Most Miserable Cities," based on factors including tax rates and weather, but not sports teams.

The magazine said it looked at the 200 largest U.S. metropolitan statistical areas and analyzed factors such as foreclosure rates for 2012, property tax rates, income tax rates, weather and the change in median home prices between 2009 and 2012 to come up with its list of "America's Most Miserable Cities."

Funny, for many people this would make it seem ideal, not miserable. Inexpensive housing, low demand and lots of opportunity to stand out. Further some people prefer this weather to hot hot and hotter.

I just listened to an NPR piece about older homeless women in San Francisco...they interviewed several women who received between $400 and $900 per month (not including Bridge Card) and absolutely could not afford to live anywhere but on the streets for that.

Meanwhile, in cities like Flint and Detroit, people are managing to live in homes and keep the lights on for well under $1000 a month. I know a few.

No sports teams? I thought Detroit had teams in all of the major leagues.

They also found it to be dry and ugly, crowded, and lacking in culture (not theater, orchastra. . . . )

Poor guys got lost and ended up inthe wrong city, but hey, they read how awful it was on the news and the must be accurate, so they just made up the rest.

The ranking was not based on sports teams, but other factors like taxes and weather.

(...and reading comprehension )
