Anyone know of any vacation rentals in the GP area? I'm not having any luck on airbnb.com.

There might be a hotel, but I am not aware of any. Try Ann Arbor, you may find a sublease for the summer/

You're not likely to find anything that I am aware of. Do you have to be in GP?

Vacation rentals? People live there year round, it's not a vacation area.

(although it was a long time ago when wealthy Detroiters had summer "cottages" (i.e. mansions) there)

Best I can think of is maybe a month to month flat in the Cabbage Patch section of GPP, but that's not a resort area at all. Try craigslist. SE MI isn't as tech-savvy with websites like that, as far as I can tell.

Yeah, I had a feeling. We wanted to stay in the GP area for the close proximity to Detroit and Lake St. Clair. We're also looking to buy and wanted to get a feel for the area.

GP is very nice, but definitely not a "vacation area". Lake St. Clair parks are only available to residents with a pass anyways (and I would not call Lake St. Clair really a vacation-style lake; it's very shallow and non-scenic, IMO).

There are some motels on the East Side of the Metro Area, close to the Pointes, but most of the nicer hotels are in other parts of the Metro Area (so Oakland County, downtown, or on the West Side of the Metro Area). Some of the communities closest to the Pointes are kind of sketchy (East Side of Detroit, and arguably much of Southern Macomb County, though it varies), so perhaps get a hotel a bit further away from the Pointes. Something in Roseville or Warren will tend to not be very nice.

Most vacation lakefront rentals tend to be on the inland lakes in either Oakland County, northern rural Macomb County, Livington County or rural Washtenaw County.

There might be rentals in Harrison Township (and northward) or Grosse Ile but I wouldn't know for sure.

LOL much of southern Macomb county is sketchy. Good to see this forum hasn't changed much.

You disagree? South Warren? Roseville? Eastpointe?

Would you stay at a roadside motel at 9 Mile & Van Dyke?
