As long as there are so many that deny the reality of the cause of this, the problems will persist. Corruption, Unions, run away criminal behavior are at the top of the list for the causes. Don't blame the corporations. Other cities have lost lots of manufacturing jobs and are in no way even close to as bad as Detroit. Pittsburgh pretty much lost the steel industry, Chicago also lost lots of manufacturing jobs, yet they aren't near as bad. Unless the crime problem is dealt with, and Detroit's citizens are willing to get to work rather than crying for a handout, any more money in aid to this rat hole is a waste. They made their bed, let them lie in it.

It has been the policy of the lunatic fringe, neo-Nazi right wing to blame unions for EVERYTHING negative. I'm so sick of this "unions did this to Detroit" crap. The general plan is to reduce American wages overall to about the level of Malaysia. Destroying unions will be one giant step towards that goal. They are not worried about the lower, working, and middle classes what so ever. They view such people as subhuman and "the enemy" and act accordingly.

In Detroit's case it is not the Union per se that is necessarily the problem. But here's where the problem comes in. Political contributions. Ban the Unions from being able to contribute to political campaigns, and forbid them from doing business with anyone connected to the govt. and the problem would decrease significantly. But here's what happens. The Unions support politicians, usually democrats, with campaign contributions. The politicians then give the Unions what they want in regards to wages, benefits, pensions etc. Therefore the Unions keep supporting the politicians, even when they are spending more money than they have. The politicians keep raising taxes until people leave and that's what happened in Detroit, and happening in other places in the USA. Then they blame it all on "greedy" corporations who have moved out or gone out of business, just because they couldn't afford the outrageous taxes that were being charged. Check it out, Detroit has some of the highest taxes of any city in the nation. No one's moving back in any numbers until that changes too. The exodus will continue. USA citizens aren't slaves, yet.

The unions usually support democrats, this is true. But it is also true that big time corporations usually support republicans and donate MILLIONS of dollars to their campaigns. In return, they support big business over the regular American. Not all republicans are like this but MANY of them are.

Come on, I know you can do it.
