So what - don't you recognize a political statement when you see it?
A) It's extremely early in the bankruptcy process, and there are complications, delays, stays, and infighting.
B) The statement is qualified by the words "right now", making it non-committal. Of course the "fair-and-balanced" National Review would skip over that little tidbit in its headline.

Yeah, I'm sure Chrissy "Tingles" Matthews has a more objective view of the regime's statement.

And what would we have the WH do? Detroit dug the hole, now Detroit has to find a way out--if Ore doesn't piecemeal it first.

Maybe Detroit could become a foreign country to qualify for US foreign aid.

Not objective, but opposing.
Matthews, for one, is not a member of the 50-year-old "voice-of-plutocracy" media wing. I just happen to favor media which promotes the representative government of a true republic, not the likes of the National Review or Fox, and challenging their increasingly royalist views is all good imo.
