So yeah, people would not like you if they thought that you were beneath them, and this continues on to this present day. I think they call it the service industry, or you may know them as knowledge workers.

That is why it is such a big deal when a Black woman has a high ranking administrative position; you know, you have to be the best typist, etc. just to get that position, or perhaps you get in the door through affirmative action. Then when she gets there, her focus shifts from getting the job to keeping the job, you know, because they might fire her for anything. So then she becomes this "Uncle Tom" or "sellout" in order to appease her superiors because you know, they didn't want to hire her anyway (but at the same time what self-respecting White woman would want to work that position).

So you can't tell that Black woman anything, because she takes a lot of pride in what she does. And they use her to keep the rest of us in check. So in many ways things have not changed.

Whites either hate us because they feel superior to us, or they hate the fact that they're stuck on the same professional level we're on and they have to work around us all day (but would rather not do so). They would rather be with their own working comfortably, but they can't because they do not have the social skills, education, or finesse to run in those circles. It isn't racism in the sense that they have this power over us, but rather resentment, because of their lot in life. The bottom line is that you probably could run this country without us, but you never really tried to. Now you're stuck with us and our so oh ignorant and backwards ways, you know, because no one ever taught us and we had to make things up as we went along as far as trying to assimilate into the larger mainstream culture. There are things that we don't understand, particularly poor Blacks, but then comes the belligerence because pride often fills in the gaps when there is a lack of knowledge. There is pride in being Black, and then pride in what you know as a human being, and the lines are often blurred. Doesn't make the way we're treated right, just my take on why some do not like us.
What is wrong with wanting to be with people of your own race or, running in the same circle as you put it???

I don't like blacks because of the crying of racism at every chance.

I am a women that built a business that is nearly 100% male.

I believe I have heard every boob joke out their.

Cry to someone who cares.

There's a difference between not liking a certain race and wanting to be with others of your own race. One is a directed emotion and the other is a preference.

Places I'd take a look at while you're young (in no particular order):

Seattle
Portland, OR
Eugene, OR
Washington, DC
SoCal
SLC
Boise
Boston
NYC
Minneapolis
Austin, TX
Dallas/Ft. Worth
Houston
Kansas City, MO

By the way, Albuquerque is nice (scenically speaking), but I doubt you'll care for it much as a whole. Make sure to visit the restaurant/bar up on Sandia Peak. I think there's a gondola that goes up to the top. The views are breathtaking. And stay away from the meth, I hear it's a big deal down there.
For Detroit's sports fans, like Denver the Minneapolis choice gives you the chance to see all your teams in action on occasion as Minny also has all four teams and at least two are in the same division as Detroit and the others are in the same league. They frequently play each other. You are also already used to cold and snow in Detroit. Denver is also a nice choice and most people get used to the altitude after a couple weeks (don't go too long without fluids...water or microbrew...LOL).

Minneapolis has the Nicollet Mall, which is similar to Denver's 16th Street Mall. Transit and biking trails are good, too. All four sports teams play in the downtown areas...three in downtown Minneapolis and the Wild in downtown St. Paul. While on that topic, St. Paul just across the Mississippi River provides a good city to visit with its more historic and Victorian emphasis contrasted against more modern and contemporary Minneapolis. You also get a cultural upgrade if you are a live theater fan...no diss on Detroit...few places match the TC in that area. I grew up in the TC area and you will enjoy the plentiful lakes and rivers.

Boulder is a nice city to visit thirty miles from Denver and Red Rocks is a wonderful concert venue that is nice to visit even when no event is happening. Both greater Denver and the Twin Cities region will provide better economies.

I would recommend these two first. NYC, Seattle, Boston, Wash DC and So Cal may be too expensive for some while still having good amenities. If you can land a good paying job though, go for it.

One thing I don't get is the "Michigan is so beautiful" claims. Michigan is nice compared to Indiana and Illinois, but, overall, is not a particularly beautiful state.

The lower half of the state is NOT generally beautiful; the northern half is much nicer, but still not exactly stunning scenery (mostly flat, random mix of forests and farms, scattered developments here and there).

Granted, there are nice parts, like the "tunnel of trees" or around Marquette, or maybe Grand Traverse peninsula, but we aren't talking stunning scenery like the Italian coast or California or even Upstate NY/Vermont here.

There is nothing wrong with keeping the company of people of your own race or culture - everybody does it. The difference is how you treat the others. If you say "blacks are lazy and don't want to work - but I would never hire one" that is ignorant, hypocritical, and a prime example of what minorities are up against. Society is rife with attitudes like yours.

If you built a going business, then kudos. The "crying of racism" you cite as a nuisance is much less damaging than "refusing to hire" blacks while concurrently complaining about their unwillingness to work. No words to describe this all-too-typical hypocrisy.
Shinola in Detroit found good capable and trainable workers among the black population of the city, and there are others, even entrepreneurs, working their butts off daily and attempting startups. Hard to believe, eh?
And these apparently are people you find "disgusting" regardless. At least you are up front about your real views which most conservative employers tend to hide or deflect.

BTW as a parallel, Shinola and these young entrepreneurs cropping up here and there are indeed some of the new gems of Detroit - present and future. Possibly will put your own efforts to shame at some point.
You are welcome to your jaded outlook.

It ain't just about you. My aim was to bring out a common but veiled attitude that, despite people's claims, is quite prevalent in America. Just give it some thought. Again, kudos for your business success, it's a tough road which takes commitment and energy and I sure respect anybody willing to take on such a task with its inherent risks. Now and again I have had that desire myself. Jeez, gotta be sleepless nights at times I would bet.
Minorities are not foreign or averse to this btw.

Southeast Michigan Startup - Black Community

So I respect people like this willing to do it. Hmm, these are some little gems that didn't exist when I was there.

I do not dislike all minorities.

In fact my first husband was from Central America.

LMAO this sentence seriously made me laugh. You can't be serious. I've never seen so much ignorance displayed in one sentence. This is not the 60's. Crawl out from that rock your living under and get into this century please.
