Just wondering, The city proper is "supposely" about 8-10% White, so they have to live somewhere.

Agreed, except EEV. White people do live there but not that many. SW as whole is mostly Hispanic and White

Corktown is an Irish neighborhood, or at least had it's roots in Irish immigrants. I always thought Indian Village would have a higher percentage that most of Detroit.

Wow, I though their would be more then that. In New York, The Bronx borough has a comparable percentage of Whites [I think it's only 13% now], but there are still a handful of neighborhoods in the Bronx that are overwhelmingly White [Morris Park, Pelham Bay, Woodlawn, Riverdale etc.].

Speaking of Chaldean town, I went through there recently and that strip of 7 mile looked dead. I think a good number of Chaldeans moved out to the 'burbs.

More recent version.

The cluster that's on the old map is pretty much gone in the new one.

All of these endured severe white flight (loss of at least 40 percent of the white population) in the last decade, except Corktown.

Exactly - with the exception, maybe, of the Central Business District.

The changes have been extreme in Warrendale, EEV, out by Balduck Park, and the Five Points strip.

Whites are a visible minority in those areas, as well as Downtown, on the East Side right along the Detroit River, and in the southwest side. It may be that, at present, more than half of Detroit's white population who are not in interracial families are in group homes, AFC homes, or boarding houses.

I was under the impression that a lot of the white people in Detroit were elderly people who refused to leave their homes when white flight occurred. So a lot of the loss would be due to natural decrease.
