Looks like Detroit will be getting LED street lights for all neighborhoods within 18 months. Also overhead wired lights will be replaced by the fourth quarter of 2015 and underground wiring along major thoroughfares, is scheduled to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2016.[LEFT]

What about the stoplights? Will the new LEDs be integrated into the existing stoplight housings? The yellow plate stoplights are getting rare in many parts of the US these days.

This will make the scrappers happy. Copper supplies are running low.

They installed those LED lights on I-94 on the east side of Detroit and I don't think they've worked properly for one day. There are usually several sections out, sometimes for miles. And sometimes they are on in broad daylight.

I actually prefer when they are not working. It cuts down on the glare and makes the cars stand out more. I don't really see the need for them. It's not like there might be a pedestrian crossing I-94.
