One day in Detroit was a film project that took place on April 26th in the us across several cities. People participating had 1 day only to film their stories. Then their footage was submitted.
These stories show many different aspects and different parts and things going on in the city.

detroitblog has the effect of showing the whole picture. There are bad things about Detroit but there are also good people there and interesting aspects.

I like how the people know exactly what the problem is. Jobs.. need jobs..jobs.. jobs.. JOBS!!! So simple!!! If given the opportunity, people won't spend the day stripping copper from houses if they could work.

Sure, some demand can be forced if it's something people must have, but there is a limit to how much demand can be generated if your customer base doesn't have the money to afford your unique product or service.
That's the catch-22 Detroit faces right now. The question is should the chicken or the egg come first in addressing it.

Also, sometimes it's cheaper having someone collect welfare than to work a job that is not needed. That may be why welfare is often used.

Guess you guys have never tried to start a business. You need capital, and that is hard to get when you've been foreclosed on and you are homeless. Supply, demand, and jobs.. surprisingly all related. Not some magic intrinsic morality. But that is cool, go on and believe businesses and start-ups are divinely inspired, its a brilliant way to hide that your a racist.

It's also easier to start a business in places with fewer regulations. Regulations often do have the habit of protecting existing businesses.
