I think incentivizing high school student performance is a great idea. If you have two kids in high school doing great, this is 100 bucks in their pockets right there after each report card !
( Michigan state senate district 13 cities are : Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham, Clawson, Berkley, Troy, Royal Oak, Rochester & Rochester Hills)

Observer & Eccentric July 15, 2014

Al Gui, 50, is a mathematics instructor who taught at the college and high school level. Asked to list his political background, Gui described himself as a Republican, conservative Christian and patriot.

A single father raising three children, Gui has lived in the district for nine years:

Q: Why are you the best candidate to serve the people of the 13th district?

Gui: I’m not connected to any special interest group. Of all the candidates, I'm the only one who spent more than 15 years teaching (mathematics) at the college and high school level combined.

Maybe, instead of cash payments, we should put money into a college fund account, with a 2X multiplier if used at an in-state school?

I'm still trying to figure out why I am responsible for paying the education of other people's kids.

I think I have an answer and here it is: when this country is under attack, you will not be on the war front, or if you are, you will not fight the enemy in different places at the same time. Who will? OTHER PEOPLE'S KIDS and those kids will fight like hell to protect not only themselves but also the country as a whole including you and your family.
And why is education necessary to fight a war? well you know the answer in this tech driven 21st century.

I've got to hand it to you, that's one of the better arguments I've heard.
