This is precisely why most proposals for tax increases are put on the primary election ballot. They know that a lot of people who would likely oppose tax increases are too lazy to vote in the primaries.

Given that Prop. 1 passed with a landslide victory, I doubt my one vote would have made a difference.

Between the continued sorry state of Michigan's economy, so many communities being under EM and Detroit's bankruptcy, many rightfully feel defeated as their votes clearly haven't mattered.

Just remember, if they want change and surrender the vote, it will never change.

That's true as well, which is why I haven't really bitched about the results of the primary.

I'll definitely be voting and bitching in November though...

I have been working since January to GOTV, especially 18-25 year-old.

But many votes are actually quite close. A bond proposal (more debt requiring more taxes to pay for it) in Manchester passed by only one vote this past election. (I haven't heard if they've finalized their recount.)

The powers-that-be don't really want many people to vote--they just want "their" people to vote.

Sadly, many--if not most--elections in highly partisan areas are decided in the primaries.
