I will be flying in to Detroit in January, but my final destination is Windsor (downtown area close to tunnel). Could you recommend me any public or private transportation to Windsor itself, or to place in Detroit where I can take a bus to Windsor. I believe that there is no way to cross border on foot, so correct me if I am wrong.

The Windsor Tunnel Bus. I know it picks you up by the Maritime Church right by the Ren Center
It is 2.75 for one way. They take American or Canadian Dollar

You take a Tunnel bus. There is a bus stop right next to Casino, but if you take a bus there you will have to ride through main bus station. So you can walk 5 minutes to a bus stop which is right by the entrance to the tunnel. It is exactly in front of a Church. You can exit a bus at the corner of Fort and Cass. You cross the street in the direction of original travel and there is a bus stop for 125 which will take you to airport. Make sure to check bus schedule on website smartbus org . The buses alternate and take you to either south or north terminal. You should give yourself 2 hours to get from casino to airport, depending on traffic at the tunnel.
